Gabapentin seems to be effective in about two-thirds of people with bipolar mood disorders that have not responded to lithium or other mood-stabilizers. Some people who have not been able to tolerate any antidepressant because of switches to mania or increased speed or intensity of cycling, or because of the development of mixed states, have been able to tolerate therapeutic doses of anti- depressants when taking gabapentin.
After doing this for so long I have also seen Gabapentin help lots of people in opiate detox. Everyone is a little different and it just depends on the person and where they are in their detox. It can cause w/d in itself if used too long or in too high of a dose so I wouldn't say it should be regularly used but in certain circumstances it can be a lifesaver. God bless.
My husband was prescribed gabapentin as a prescription to help with pain in his fingers and arms due to neck and back surgery in 1994. This surgery was due to an industrial accident that split open his hardhat and jammed his spine and neck. The prescription gabapentin is for 300 mg 3X's a day. The effects are: clumsiness, behavior problems, anxiety, crying, depression, false sense of well-being, loss of memory, rapid changing in moods and unusual tiredness. I take 100gm 2-3 times daily for non diabetic neuropathy and L4 and L5 discs bulge plus deteriation of spine. I also take a low does of Tramadol for the pain.
Menthol, Capsaicin, the other pain medication ingredients. Capsaicin deplete the chemical in nerve cells which are responsible for sending pain signals. Menthol temporarily eliminates the ability to feel the pain by producing a hot or cold sensation. Scientists believe that part of the reason is that they keep the neural pathways clear of any platelets which enable the signals to be transmitted quicker and with more clarity. When the signals are not so clear, it can lead to anxiety as the brain tries to decode them. Obviously along with reducing the symptoms of anxiety, omega 3 fish oils can help to protect your heart, lower blood pressure and help to prevent cancers.
The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your healthcare provider uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your healthcare provider may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your healthcare provider's approval. Adults: Your healthcare provider will prescribe the appropriate dose for you and may increase your dose as needed, until the desired effect is achieved.
I TOTALLY agree Klopper- there HASbeen research (several actually) that supports the idea that it helps with some of the symptoms of withdrawal. If there wasn't evidence for this why would doctors put theirselves at risk to prescribe this for ppl to help ease withdrawal symptoms. So please do some homework before you make these assumptions - I'll say assumptions because I assume you haven't done a thorough search on the effects of neurontin on opiods withdrawal.
Dextromethorphan hydrobromide and promethazine hydrochloride are the two main ingredients that play a key role in alleviating symptoms of upper respiratory infections. A teaspoon of the syrup delivers around 15 mg of dextromethorphan and 6.25 mg of promethazine. Alcoholic content of the syrup is around 7%. Alcohol in cough syrups acts as a solvent, ensures that all the ingredients are dissolved properly, and helps maintain consistency of the liquid.
